Job Description


The Maintenance Supervisor maintains production and quality by ensuring operation of machinery and mechanical equipment. This position partners with the Production team to coordinate activities of team members to ensure tasks are appropriately delegated and completed for maximum efficiency in meeting safety, quality and operational standards.  This individual reports directly to the Operations Manager.  This individual will work with a variety of machine tools and equipment and will perform the following duties:

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

Specific responsibilities for the Maintenance Supervisor include, but are not limited to:   

  • Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer’s instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.
  • Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments.
  • Removes defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts.
  • Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts; using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
  • Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges.
  • Fabricates repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment.
  • Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt.
  • Conserves maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
  • Prepares mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends.
  • Partners with production team to ensure limited downtime and interference with production schedule.

  • Informs team members of routine preventive maintenance techniques, monitoring compliance.

  • Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing technical publications, establishing personal networks.
  • Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Ensures equipment meets the Food Safety Management Plan standards.

  • Safely operate within Lansing’s safety standards, procedures and government regulations.

  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • High School or/ equivalent (GED)
  • 3+ years of Equipment Maintenance experience
  • PLC troubleshooting capabilities
  • Electrical knowledge
  • Solid Technical Aptitude
  • Ability to deal with Uncertainty
  • Knowledge of Basic Safety protocols
  • Ability to use Power Tools
  • Attention to detail
  • Flexibility
  • Self-Starter
  • Must have prompt and dependable attendance.
  • Willing to work overtime as needed.
  • Understand and follow company workplace safety requirements, policies and procedures.
  • Must be able to meet physical requirements of this positions, including but not limited to standing, sitting, bending and kneeling.
  • Willing to work in a variety of conditions (heat, cold, dust, etc.),
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
